Spring and Fall Fishing Otter Tail Beach Resort offers excellent Spring and Fall fishing. Otter Tail Lake is a 13,725-acre lake near Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Ottertail Lake offers an enormous amount of prime habitat for walleye and perch, with countless sunken islands, bars and reefs. Maximum depth reaches 124 feet, shore length is 21.7 miles, and water clarity is 8.0 feet. Species present are walleye, perch, northern pike, smallmouth bass, rock bass, tullibee, bullhead and white sucker.The water is extremely clear and structure is well suited for year round fishing. Our two deluxe Lund Outfitter boats with 40 & 50 hp Honda 4-stroke motors and Our 22' Suntracker Pontoon (115 hp Mercury Optimax) provide stability and comfort on the water. Across the street from Otter Tail Beach Resort is Balmoral Golf Course. Balmoral is a mature 18 Hole - Par 72 course with tree lined fairways and enough water hazards to challenge any golfer. Balmoral takes tee times 7-days in advance and features a well stocked pro shop, snack bar, beer and sandwiches. Cart and club rentals available. Reasonable rates include weekday, weekend and twilight green fees. If you are here for a week ask about their 7-day membership, unlimited golf for 7 days for $95.00 plus tax, excludes Holiday dates. Shady Oaks Riding Stable Try trail riding through the beautiful countryside. Saddle horses offering group trail rides and corral rides for small children. Horse drawn buggy and hay rides are available in addition to corral lessons for the inexperienced riders. The stable is approximately one-half half mile from Ottertail Beach Resort. Unique Shopping There are many antique and specialty shops in the surrounding community, and even a coffee shop! Unique, hand-crafted gifts made by local artisans will become part of your vacation memories. Roadside markets, specialty foods, and pick-your-own produce are available during summer and fall. Antique auctions and flea markets offer an exciting opportunity to get deals, and stories for your friends. Native American History The Otter Tail area is home to many historic Native American sites and events, including battle grounds and Wenonga Days Festival in nearby Battle Lake. Family Outings Weekly turtle races in Battle Lake and Perham, Art & Craft shows, County Fairs, and old time Fall threshing shows offer family opportunities like no other area. A nearby mini golf course offers fun for the whole family. Phelps Mill Located on the Otter Tail River, the mill was built in 1889, and was originally called the Main Roller Mills. The mill is no longer in operation, but is now the focal point of a beautiful landscaped county park. Tour the mill, fish the stream, or picnic along the river. Phelps Mill is host to the highly acclaimed Phelps Mill Arts and Crafts Festival the second weekend of July, offering guest performers appearing on stage and around the grounds. A festive atmosphere for a wholesome family experience. Inspiration Peak State Park The second highest site in Minnesota offers a panoramic view of nine lakes and three counties. As part of a moraine this site is the result of the last push of glacial ice across Minnesota. Inspiration Peak is a great place for family hikes and picnics. Enjoy the paved paths with resting benches along the way. Inspiration Peak is also a good place to watch the fall hawk migration in the area. Maplewood State Park An 8,000-acre park, outstanding scenic area, picnic grounds, nature trails, and fishing. Rolling hills blanketed in maple trees creates incredible fall colors for 35 miles of hiking trails. The park contains more than 20 lakes, so enjoy the swimming beaches, numerous picnic spots, forest demonstrations, and scenic park drives. Otter Tail County Historical Society Recognized by the Minnesota Historical Society as one of the top county museums in the state. Exhibits chronicle the development of Otter Tail County from the Native American to the early 20th Century. Take a stroll down Main Street of a hundred years ago, see history come to life in one of the dioramas, or consult the extensive genealogical resources available. The Heirloom Garden has been a special outdoor exhibit in recent summers. Open June-September, the museum is located at 1110 West Lincoln Avenue in Fergus Falls.
